Always on the lookout for doing a painting featuring the American landscape, this one came about from watching too many serial killer programmes! I decided to paint a meandering road with Ted Bundy’s volkswagon driving along, and had to decide what else I could put in the painting. What better than the juxtaposition with a Volkswagon camper van, an iconic image of the 1960s, which evokes thoughts of a time of love and peace. The painting in the end became an image of good /evil, fate-which one will pick her up, or will they continue on their way? The carefree hitchhiker, a road of opportunity ahead, but you never know what is around the corner. Live every day like it is your last!
