Musks Moonies

I love the contribution Elon Musk is making to space exploration. I love his enthusiasm, and plans for future space exloration. I also love that he bought Twitter, turned it into X, and is fighting for free speech, and against the mainstream media, so I wanted to do an Elon Musk painting, and this was the result!

Even though I love what he is doing, I don’t hold out much hope for humans moving to the moon, and beyond. I just think, the same problems that happen between people on Earth, would happen anywhere else. I also don’t see without some technology beyond what my brain can envisage, or wormholes etc, humans travelling beyond this solar system. But without him even trying, then we are just standing still, so it is great to watch the progress being made. I can watch videos of the SpaceX starships landing back to Earth over and over, it’s like watching Thunderbirds come to life!

𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧

30x80cm acrylic canvas painting

After spending years painting on 80x30cm canvases, horizontally, I was presented with the opportunity to try a vertical painting on the same canvas, after visiting Saltburn last year.

Here’s Saltburn pier, but however much I like trains and tracks (not trainspotting levels), this might have to be my first, and last, painting of them. It was a nightmare having to paint so many straight lines!

First Original Painting Sold

Well this is a bitter sweet moment, having just put my originals up for sale, I’ve just sold my first original painting! The Long March was one of my first paintings using the 80x30cm canvases, and my second Royal Family painting. I painted it just after the Queen’s funeral, to commemorate such a majestic day, that oozed respect for our Queen.

I’ll be sorry to see it go, so much so, that I’m going to get myself a canvas print of the painting, which completely defeats the object of trying to create more space in the house At least I know it’s going to a good home, and they love it as much as I do. Indoctrination

Unfortunately, what this painting depicts, is becoming more prevalent, in the UK, on a daily basis. Just recently we have had Angela Rayner scaring school children with falsehoods about an opposition party, and only yesterday I see, we have teachers striking, with the  keffiyeh scarfs, and Palestinian flags; whilst the students counteract this strike, and tell them to get back to work. The children have more sense than the adults!

In my view, no teacher should be promoting political or partisan ideology in the class room. When did it become acceptable for teachers to preach their views to young children? When I was a child, all I knew about my teacher, was their name, and that’s all you need to know. Anyway, I will stop there, and just let the painting speak for me.

Punch Love

The finished painting of Punch the snow monkey, with his orangutan teddy bear, and the first monkey who cared for him, Go-Chan. I just checked how he’s doing as it’s all gone a bit quiet after he went viral; the answer is great! He’s integrated and bonded, especially with a 5 year old female named Momo-chan!

T-T-Teessiders

30 years ago (THIRTY!!!) I went to Teesside Uni, met my friend Paula, who I argued with all night, that football was better than rugby! I then proceeded to join the rugby team, as they were much friendlier, and partied better!

Well I really couldn’t have wished to meet better team-mates, and life long friends! And although I still prefer football, I can easily concede that rugby does most things better than football: from the supporters, the player’s integritys, always a joyous occasion.

This painting is of some of us heading to the opening of the Women’s Rugby Word Cup in Sunderland last year.

The Beach

80x30cm acrylic canvas painting

Just another Royal Family painting! I gave up on this one a few years ago, as I was having an awful time with the application of the paint. Anyway, picked it back up, and persevered. Big lesson learnt (took me long enough) to not paint on coarse canvases. Considering the difficulty I had, the end result is ok, just not the texture.

I’ve just finished my painting of Punch the little monkey. A few days ago, I came home from night shift, with only one thing on my mind, and that was not to go to bed; but instead to start a painting of Punch, the baby Japanese macaque that has captured the heart of everyone around the world. In a time of such  divisiveness, he has helped unite us all. Just like everyone else, I love Punch!

I have to say, I am loving my new painting of JK Rowling. It is from a photo that she posted on X, 16.4.25, with the caption “I love it when a plan comes together.” Celebrating the U.K. Supreme Court’s ruling regarding the definition of a “woman” in relation to the Equality Act.

I hold J.K. Rowling in the same esteem as Queen Elizabeth II. She is the main reason that I will visit X every day. She is a delight to read, speaking with intelligence, reason, common sense, she has fantastic wit, and what a wordsmith. She is like a medicine for much of the stupidity that is happening in today’s world. Based.

She could have stayed silent, knowing the backlash she would face, but she didn’t. To have someone in her position fight for basic women’s rights is immense. She helped start the fight back, and I hold her in great respect.

The Church of Newcastle United

Just when I was close to finishing this painting, the Isak saga began. Then he went to Liverpool, what was I meant to do? I loved Isak, and thought he was world class, and I loved the goal that he scored against West Ham, and the pose in the painting; so what a shame to remove him from the painting. At the same time, what an awful way to carry on, he ruined his whole legacy, when all he had to do was put a in transfer request. Anyhow, let’s move on, the decision was made to paint a new player over him, and what a great player he has turned out to be, dare I say, better? Welcome Woltemade. I love this present Newcastle team, maybe even more so than the Entertainers, but everyone always loves their present love more than a previous love! What a great group of players we have. Go back 5 to 10 years ago, and I struggled to have even one favourite player, Fabian Schar stood out. Now each player deserves the accolade, although for the last few years it has without doubt been Joelinton. I love him so much, he is now actually my favourite all time Newcastle United player. Let me not gush on any further, and just say, here is my new painting, The Church of Newcastle United.

The Pizza Shop

Hi, this is a new painting from a day out to the opening of the Women’s Rugby World Cup in Sunderland. The photo was taken by my friend Lindsey Oliver, and I just thought that it would make a great painting in my 80x30s collection. It’s the end of the night with teammates from my university rugby team (although I didn’t make it to the end). We now try to meet up annually and go to a women’s England game. Here everyone has returned to Middlesrough (which is also where we all went to university together), so have headed straight to the takeaway to get a taste of the local delacy- the parmo!

Whitley Bay Lighthouse

Walking along Whitley Bay promenade on Boxing Day, with my dad, we both decided do a painting of the lighthouse. I like this painting, as the sky and the clouds remind me of the colours of Whitley Bay in my childhood: when all the railings along the seafront were in this blue and white colour. Onesie Night at the Palace

If you can’t tell, I do love the royal family. I can understand the viewpoint of people who think we shouldn’t have a monarchy, it is a little weird to be treated as ‘royalty’ just because of a family you are born into. I however love the history, and respect them all, they did not choose this life, yet they fulfill their duties, and do a lot of good work for the country. This is why I enjoy painting them as if they were just like the rest of us, it fascinates me.

Biology isn’t Hate

I had wanted to do a painting of J.K. Rowling, Sharron Davies, and Martina Navratilova for quite a while. This was the result! I couldn’t respect these 3 ladies more, using their platforms to fight the insanity we are living through at present.
